UNICEF Pakistan is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join their team as a Local Security Assistant. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of UNICEF personnel, eligible family members, and assets in a dynamic and challenging environment. As a Local Security Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Security Officer in various security planning, implementation, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Security Planning: Assist the supervisor in planning and implementing safety and security measures, including the development of security documentation and contingency plans.
  2. Safety and Security Services: Monitor local security situations, provide technical support to security providers, and share safety information with personnel and family members. Conduct security exercises and physical surveys as required.
  3. Security Networking: Maintain liaison with local authorities and UN counterparts responsible for security, law, and order.
  4. Knowledge Management and Capacity Building: Coordinate mandatory security training for personnel and provide training for security guards and drivers. Assist in providing security-related training for UNICEF staff and family members.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary education, supplemented by relevant technical/military/police courses and/or university courses in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a security-related environment.
  • Previous experience in a UN system agency or organization is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is beneficial.
