Punjab Police/Special Branch holds a crucial role in the technological advancement and information management of the department. The position is on a contract basis for a period of three years, with the possibility of extension, and is open to candidates on merit. The primary responsibilities and qualifications for this position are outlined as follows:

Prescribed Qualification/Experience as per Service Rules:

  • Master’s degree (two years) (second division) in Computer Science or Information Technology from a university recognized by Higher Education Commission; or
  • Bachelor’s degree (four years) in Software Engineering from a University recognized by Higher Education Commission; and
  • Minimum one year’s experience in programming.

Note: Only practical experience after the prescribed qualification shall be considered. Experience in private entities will be accepted if the entity is registered with SECP, Registrar of Firms, or any other Regulatory Authority.


  • Male: 21 to 30 + 5 = 35 years
  • Female: 21 to 30 + 8 = 38 years
  • As per Government of Punjab Notification No.SOR-I (S&GAD)9- 36/81 dated 21 May 2012.
  • Age & Sex of the Transgender will be based on the contents of their CNIC

Syllabus for Written Examination/Test (if held): One paper of MCQ Type Written Test of 100 Marks with a 90-minute duration. The syllabus includes:

  • Qualification-related questions (80%)
  • General ability including General Knowledge, Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, Geography, English, Basic Mathematics, Urdu, and Everyday Science (20%).

  1. General Instructions on Application Process:

    • Prior to applying online, candidates are advised to carefully read the general instructions regarding application fee, written test, and interview on the PPSC website www.ppsc.gop.pk.
  2. Age Concession for Employees of Semi-Government and Autonomous Bodies:
    • Employees of Semi-Government and Autonomous Bodies of the Federal or Provincial Government, as well as those of Local Bodies, are not eligible for age concession during the period of their service in such organizations.
  3. Equivalence of Qualification:
    • If a candidate claims that their qualification is equivalent to the prescribed qualification, they must submit an equivalence certificate of their foreign/local qualification. This certificate should be issued by the Competent Authority of HEC/PMDC/PMC/PEC & QEDC of the concerned Administrative Department. Failure to submit this certificate at the time of the interview will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s candidature.
  4. Experience in Private Firms/Entities:
    • Candidates claiming experience in private firms/entities must provide proof during the interview that the firm/entity is registered with SECP, Registrar of Firms, or any other Regulatory Authority. Failure to provide this proof will lead to the rejection of the application.
  5. Departmental Permission Certificate/NOC:
    • Candidates must apply for Departmental Permission Certificate/NOC in their concerned department(s) immediately after applying for a particular post. The certificate/NOC should be provided at the time of the interview if called.
  6. Registration in Relevant Bodies:
    • Candidates must ensure that they have obtained/applied for registration in PEC/PNC/PMDC/PMC/PVMC or other relevant bodies on or before the closing date. The registration certificate should be provided at the time of the interview if called.
  7. Submission of Marks and Certificates:
    • Candidates should provide marks obtained/total marks or percentage certificates of all degrees, issued by the Competent Authority, at the time of the interview. CGPA is not acceptable.
  8. Verification of Information:
    • No information shared by anyone other than on the PPSC’s website is considered authentic. Candidates should rely only on information provided on the official website.
  9. Test Venue:
    • Shorthand Test and Typing & Proficiency Test, if required, will exclusively be held at Lahore.
  10. Variation in Number of Posts:
    • In case of variation (increase/decrease) in the number of posts by the concerned department, no fresh applications will be invited.
  11. Fee Deposit:
    • Applicants are advised to deposit fees online using specified mediums such as ATMs, Mobile Phone Banking, Internet Banking, Over the counter (1Link Member Banks Branches), Jazz Cash, Easy Paisa, U Paisa, and other available micro-finance banks.   12. Closing Date for Submission:
    • The closing date for the submission of online applications is 30 November 2023.
