Senior Legal Counsel, International Operations

The relationships TCCC maintains with its bottlers around the world are critical to the success of the Company. These relationships, at the core, are governed by the contracts we establish with each bottler. As we evolve and expand our relationships with bottlers around the world in pursuit of growth opportunities, it is critical to establish consistent best practices for how we negotiate and govern our contracts.  Importantly, the Legal teams around the world that support and drive these negotiations and support the governance of bottler contracts must have the training, tools, and support to do this effectively.

The person in this role will develop and manage our best practices for negotiating bottler contracts, interpretation of those contracts and implementing global strategies so that we scale solutions across Operating Units.  This person will build strong relationships across the network, including within Legal, the business, and our global bottlers, to drive best practices with consistency. S/he will proactively collaborate with legal and business teams in negotiating bottler agreements, enacting governance cadences, and implementing solutions globally.

What You’ll Do for Coca-Cola

  • Advise Operating Unit legal and business team in negotiating bottler agreements, including taking a first chair role in negotiations, if helpful.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of the Long-Term Relationship Model Governance Committee to ensure global visibility of bottler negotiations and consistency in implementing best practices.
  • Proactively study each OU’s business strategy and Annual Business Plans to inform the development of our legal best practices and engage legal Subject Matter Experts.
  • Proactively build relationships with bottler’s legal counsel of the key bottlers globally, including through in person meetings.  (Travel is expected, taking approximately 2-4 international trips annually.)
  • Build relationships with legal colleagues across the function and, collaborating closely with them, help drive global solutions with bottlers that serve growth or other business goals.
  • Manage team of paralegals to maintain disciplined contracting practices and storage of contracts.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • JD
  • 10+ years of experience
  • International experience is critical.
  • Strong transactional and negotiations skills is a must.
  • Strong networking skills and an ability to manage projects with stakeholders from multiple functions is critical.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must, including the ability to communicate across geography and culture, and to audiences at all levels of the Company.
  • Understanding of global contracting practices is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Company’s bottling system is a plus.
  • People management skills is not required but would be helpful.
